Abstract:
This article recounts the author’s three-year experience as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Akron during his studies in the United States in the 1980s. Beginning with his first encounter with Professor Roderic Quirk of the University of Akron, the narrative traces his early adaptation to American life, academic growth, family reunion, and eventual entry into the U.S. industrial sector. Through personal anecdotes, the author illustrates the kindness and support he received in a foreign land, as well as the invaluable opportunities that shaped his academic and professional path, underscoring the profound impact that his years in Akron had on his life.
