Yu Heyin was a new type of intellectual in modern China and a followers of the practice of Sinicization of modern science, one of the initiators of Chinese Museums Association, and one of the first individual members of the association. On the basis of introducing the life of Yu Heyin, this article describes his social activities, writings, and the establishment of the calendar. Finally, it points out that he made certain contributions in practice of sinicization of modern science, career of geological and mining, museum, industry, and other fields during the late Qing Dynasty, the Republic of China, and the People’s Republic of China.
