摘 要:
大量的实验研究表明,氧化应激是心血管疾病、神经性疾病、代谢性疾病及癌症等人类主要健康问题发生与发展的首要诱因。近年来,生物学和药学研究日益聚焦于探索氧化应激及其防御机制,以应对上述健康问题。因此,天然来源的生物活性植物化合物作为能够预防、逆转或降低慢性疾病易感性的抗氧化剂,近年来受到广泛关注。基于此研究目标,本文概述了类胡萝卜素尤其是叶黄素在生物化学特性及疾病预防与治疗方面的最新研究进展,着重探讨其对促进人类健康的作用。本综述可为推动叶黄素作为功能性健康食品和营养保健品潜在成分的研究提供基础,助力其在健康产品、化妆品、医药及化工等领域的深入开发与应用。

Abstract:
Extensive experimental studies have indicated that oxidative stress is the primary causative factor in the onset and progression of major human health issues, including cardiovascular diseases, neurological disorders, metabolic diseases, and cancer. In recent years, biological and pharmaceutical research has increasingly focused on exploring oxidative stress and its defense mechanisms to address these health concerns. Consequently, bioactive phytochemicals derived from natural sources, serving as antioxidants capable of preventing, reversing, or reducing susceptibility to chronic diseases, have garnered significant attention. Based on this research objective, this article provides an overview of the latest research progress on the biochemical characteristics of carotenoids, particularly lutein, and their role in disease prevention and treatment, with a focus on their contribution to promoting human health. This review provides a basis for advancing research on lutein as a potential ingredient in functional health foods and nutritional supplements, facilitating its in-depth development and application in sectors such as health products, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and chemical engineering.
