Abstract:
Objective: To explore the multi-dimensional correlation between college students' artificial intelligence (AI) usage behavior and anxiety level, analyze the differential impacts of generative AI and decision-making AI, reveal the interaction mechanism among "technology-individual-environment", and provide a scientific basis for college students' mental health intervention and the application of AI intelligent education. Methods: Convenience sampling was adopted to select full-time undergraduates from Hangzhou Normal University as the research objects. Questionnaires including the Multidimensional Factor Questionnaire of AI Usage Behavior, the Basic Information Questionnaire and the GAD-7 Anxiety Scale were distributed through the Wenjuanxing platform. SPSS 27.0 was used for reliability and validity test, correlation analysis and regression analysis. Results: A total of 168 valid questionnaires were recovered, verifying that the Multidimensional Factor Questionnaire of AI Usage Behavior had good reliability and validity (Cronbach’s α coefficient > 0.8); college students' daily AI usage duration and dependence were positively correlated with anxiety level (P < 0.05); excessive dependence on generative AI had a significant predictive effect on anxiety (β=0.32, P < 0.01); the sense of unease in using decision-making AI was positively correlated with anxiety level (r=0.28, P < 0.01); technical adaptability and self-efficacy played a partial mediating role between AI usage behavior and anxiety. Conclusion: There is a close correlation between college students' AI usage behavior and anxiety level, and the impact paths of different types of AI are different. It is necessary to promote college students' psychological adaptation in the digital environment by standardizing AI usage guidance and improving technical adaptability.
