Abstract:
This novel uses the prehistoric “Toba Catastrophe” as a prelude, highlighting the fragility and resilience of civilization in the face of nature’s immense power. The main narrative is set in the future, where an unpredicted super solar storm instantly obliterates global electronics, paralyzing a humanity utterly dependent on digital storage. As society struggles to recover, an even deadlier catastrophe strikes: consecutive Mega-colossal volcanic eruptions plunge the world into a “volcanic winter,” pushing it to the brink of extinction.Confronted with this dual cataclysm, survivors initiate the “Torch Project,” aiming to preserve humanity’s core knowledge in the most durable forms. They create a symbolic, image-based “Noah’s Book” as a guide for restarting civilization, moving beyond traditional language. Amidst fierce debate over preservation methods, the last surviving litterateur, granted limited space, inscribes a poem that encapsulates the essence of Chinese history. This final act symbolizes the enduring legacy of the human spirit and cultural memory against the inexorable passage of time.
