2025 Annual Best Book Selection Activity Notice
 

To all departments, authors, partners, and our valued readers:

        In 2025, Macao Scientific Publisher has steadfastly adhered to its core mission of "integrating science & technology with humanities and disseminating high-quality cultural achievements." We have meticulously cultivated diverse fields including youth literature, literary arts, science & technology, popular science communication, and foreign language exports, releasing a series of high-quality books notable for their intellectual depth, professional quality, and readability. To review the year's publishing achievements, recognize outstanding original works, set industry benchmarks, and further stimulate cultural creation and cross-domain communication, we hereby officially launch the "Macao Scientific Publisher 2025 Annual Best Book Selection" activity. This selection upholds the principles of openness, fairness, and impartiality, broadly incorporating industry expertise and reader feedback to select annual masterpieces that embody both scientific/technological value and humanistic depth.

一、Selection Purpose

        Focus on the value of scientific communication and the mission of cultural heritage transmission, highlight cross-domain creative vitality, discover outstanding books that combine intellectual depth, professional precision, and broad dissemination potential, encourage more creators to engage in quality publishing, and contribute to the cultural prosperity and integrated development of science, technology, and humanities in Macao and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

二、Selection Scope

  • Books submitted for selection must be officially published by Macao Scientific Publisher between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025 (based on the publication date on the copyright page).
  • Book categories include youth works, literary arts, science & technology, foreign language export, medical works, medical popular science, and other related works aligned with our press's scientific publishing orientation.
  • Multiple works by the same author may be submitted separately but require individual application materials.

三、Selection Criteria

      This selection revolves around four core dimensions: "Ideological Value, Professionalism, Readability, and Influence," balancing scientific/technological value and humanistic depth, with specific sub-criteria for different book types:

  • Youth Works CategoryContent aligns with youth cognitive patterns, promotes positive values, uses lively and understandable language, features engaging and interactive formats, effectively stimulating reading interest or cognitive growth in young readers.
  • Literary Arts CategoryCombines intellectual depth with artistic appeal, features fluent narrative and precise expression, conveying positive humanistic values; art-related works must possess professional aesthetic value, combine knowledge with appreciation, and help enhance readers' artistic literacy and cultural understanding.
  • Science & Technology CategoryFocuses on cutting-edge technology or fundamental scientific research, demonstrates strong originality and rigorous argumentation, reflects research achievements or development trends in relevant fields, and plays a positive role in scientific communication and academic exchange.
  • Foreign Language Export CategoryFeatures excellent translation quality, language expression suits target audience reading habits, accurately conveys the original book's core content and cultural/scientific value, and possesses strong potential for international dissemination and overseas market recognition.
  • Medical Works CategoryContent complies with medical standards, data and conclusions are based on reliable evidence and authoritative literature, combines originality with scientific relevance, uses compliant terminology and protocols, meets ethical standards, and is suitable for clinical practice, teaching, and research.
  • Medical Popular Science CategoryContent is scientifically accurate and logically clear, popularizes professional scientific knowledge effectively, employs novel dissemination formats, combines knowledge with readability, and helps enhance public scientific literacy.

四、Selection Process

  • Preliminary Selection StageThe activity organizing committee first reviews application materials for eligibility, screening books that meet the scope and basic standards. An initial review panel formed by our press's editorial committee then conducts evaluations based on content quality, editing/proofreading standards, integration of scientific/humanistic value, and alignment with the press's publishing orientation, determining the shortlist for the final selection (not exceeding 50 titles). The finalist list will be announced on the press's official website and social media.
  • Final Selection StageA final selection committee comprising publishing experts, scholars in science & technology, experts in literary arts, educators, media representatives, and reader representatives will be formed. This committee will conduct in-depth discussions and secret ballot voting on the shortlisted books to determine the final award winners.
  • Results AnnouncementThe selection results will be officially announced on Macao Scientific Publishers' official platforms. Honorary certificates and awards will be presented to the authors and editorial teams of winning books. Concurrently, winning books will be promoted through multiple online and offline channels, including dedicated book exhibitions, author sharing sessions, and collaborative media features.

五、Other Matters

  • Activity Official Notice: Macao Scientific Publisher 2025 Annual Best Book Selection (Download Welcome)
  • Applicants are requested to complete the"Annual Best Book Application Form" (click to download) and submit it via email to book@mospbs.com by February 15, 2026.
  • Application materials must be authentic and complete. Any falsification will result in disqualification upon verification.
  • The Organizing Committee reserves the right to use all submitted materials for the purposes of review, promotion, and display.
  • No fees are required for participation in this selection activity.
  • Activity updates will be promptly released on the Macao Scientific Publisher official website, WeChat official account, and other platforms. Please stay tuned.
