Abstract:
Traditional Chinese herbal formulas play a significant role in tumor treatment, and their unique multi-target mechanisms have garnered considerable attention in modern medicine. However, current research on the anti-tumor mechanisms of classical Chinese herbal formulas mostly focuses on the molecular level, with explorations into their epigenetic regulation mechanisms still in their infancy. This study takes classical Chinese herbal formulas as the research object, systematically summarizes their key mechanisms in tumor treatment, and concentrates on the field of epigenetic regulation. It investigates how classical Chinese herbal formulas influence the biological behaviors of tumor cells, such as proliferation, apoptosis, and migration, from the regulatory levels of DNA methylation, histone modification, and non-coding RNAs. Through in vivo and in vitro experiments, the regulatory effects of classical Chinese herbal formulas on tumor-related epigenetic marker genes were verified. It was found that they can significantly delay tumor progression and synergize with traditional chemotherapy drugs to enhance therapeutic efficacy. In addition, this study constructed an overall framework of the epigenetic regulation network of classical Chinese herbal formulas, revealing the synergistic effects of different active components in the formulas in regulating gene expression and the anti-tumor process. These findings not only deepen the research on the epigenetic regulation aspects of classical Chinese herbal formulas but also provide a scientific basis for the development of innovative anti-tumor strategies, opening up a new direction for interdisciplinary research between traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine.
