Abstract:
This poem uses a series of images characteristic of the late Jiangnan, such as 'fallen leaves,' 'flying butterflies,' 'fine rain,' 'quiet streams,' 'light smoke,' and 'setting sun,' to create a deep, tranquil, and slightly melancholic atmosphere of homesickness. Amidst this hazy tranquility, the sudden appearance of an old face abruptly breaks the calm, pushing the accumulated emotions to their peak. It conveys the profound longing of a wanderer for his homeland and loved ones in a specific context, along with the intense shock and complex emotions that arise from a sudden encounter (or memory).
